Help us, help Torin, fight cancer!
A few months back we received an email from a young lady named Molly, who was reaching out to us with a good friend of hers in mind.
You see, her friend Torin was diagnosed with anaplastic astrocytoma, a rare form of brain cancer, last December and has been receiving costly chemotherapy and radiation therapy treatments ever since. Like any good friend would do, Molly stepped up and reached out to us with a well-written letter asking for a little bit of help for her friend.
So here’s what happened…
We read Molly’s letter and invited her and Torin in to help us out during a brew day for Static Age, our Hazelnut Breakfast Stout. And tell you what, these two were in here bright and early helping mill and mash in, then stayed to help mash out, toss in some hops, and knockout, all while smiling the whole time!
Now comes the good part, we get to help raise some money for Torin! On Thursday, November 17th, we’ll be hosting Torin (and Molly) for a little fundraising action, donating $2 FROM EACH STATIC AGE sold that day. They’ll also be raffling off an awesome Topo Designs backpack to raise funds!
All monies raised will go to Torin to help with his rising financial costs associated with his treatments.
Here’s a bit about the man himself:
Torin is a 21 year-old student attending Colorado State University (Go Rams!) studying Parks and Protected Area Management. He’s lover of the outdoors, camping, skiing, and of course, craft beers (especially the dark ones!), and an avid hockey fan. Having played since he was 4 years old, Torin continues to play the sport he loves to this day in the Fort Collins Adult Hockey League. After being diagnosed last December, Torin took a semester off to complete an aggressive regiment of both chemotherapy and radiation and has since returned to Fort Collins to continue his education at CSU. No matter his diagnosis, he is determined to spend his time with his family and friends, doing anything and everything he enjoys.
